Considerations in assuring effective transitions for children and adults with autism spectrum disorder.

The Kelberman Center is one of the leading providers of autism services in the northeast with demonstrated expertise in service to individuals across the lifespan, including prompt evaluation and diagnosis; individualized education and services; social and life skills enhancement; innovative practices, training and research. Community education is key to helping families, practitioners, teachers, physicians and the general public learn more about autism spectrum disorders. The Kelberman Center provides this training through panel discussions and presentations featuring its own staff as well as national and international speakers on autism.

About our speakers

Dr. Valerie Gaus holds her master's and doctoral degrees in psychology from Stony Brook University. In 2006, Dr. Gaus became a staff psychologist at the Vincent Smith School for students with learning disabilities. Today, she is an adjunct professor, guest speaker and author, teaching families about ASD.

Dr. Darlene Magito-McLaughlin is a licensed clinical psychologist and a board certified behavior analyst. She holds her doctoral degree in clinical psychology from Stony Brook University and master's degree in applied psychology from Adelphi University. Dr. McLaughlin's research and clinical interests include functional communication, person centered planning, and setting events (mood, rapport).
