Many families know and love Leslie Stephens, Family Support Specialist and Medicaid Service Coordinator for the Kelberman Center. Recently, Leslie celebrated 25 years of service to the Kelberman Center and Upstate Cerebral Palsy. Over this time, Leslie has worked with countless children, helped hundreds of families and built lasting friendships across the agency.
Leslie provided leadership in creating the Kelberman Center’s Family Resource division, allowing many more families the opportunity to access necessary services for their loved ones. Leslie single-handedly runs the monthly Autism Support Group and weekly parent Coffee Club gatherings. She has organized many fun family events such as the annual Family Picnic, and she plays a critical role in center-wide events like the Walk for Autism and Sensory Santa. Leslie’s efforts have connected parents to other parents, families to other families, and siblings to other siblings, creating networks of support across Central New York.
About Leslie’s years of service, Rob Myers, Executive Director of the Kelberman Center says, “Leslie is a legend in the local Autism community. With twenty-five years of experience, she shares responsibility for the success of hundreds of children on the spectrum. There are not enough ways to show our thanks and appreciation for Leslie’s many years of dedication.”
